Stewart D’Arrietta’s My Leonard Cohen shares the poetry, stories, and insights of the great Leonard Cohen with songs such as Tower of Song, Dance Me to The End of Love, First We Take Manhattan and Bird on a Wire. D’Arrietta’s stirring interpretations delight seasoned fans and expose Cohen’s music to new generations. Beneath the roaring bluster and cyclonic musicality, the sinewy strands of romance weave poignant and compelling stories of life, love, lust and loss – this performer’s favourite themes.
‘Above all, very, very fun’ - Broadway Baby ★★★★
‘Paced-up songs, tango and Texas, hard rock… a style to surprise, satisfy and delight’ - Fringe Review
‘Loved songs with a gutsy, gritty blues twang … absolutely fantastic' - Edinburgh SG Fringe
Stewart D’Arrietta is most recognised for the iconic Lennon Through a Glass Onion, the homage he co-created with John Waters and has consistently performed internationally in various versions since 1992. With Waters he also co-created Reunion and Café Brel. A frequent festival favourite, his larger-than-life presence, irreverent humour and distinctive growl, bring a unique passion and texture to some of the greatest songs and stories ever told.
